Because the only really interesting thing in life is process…

After the Bears defeat in the Super Bowl, Youngest armed himself against the inevitable taunts of his seventh grade compatriots by wearing this:


He returned from school bearing this:

and remarked dryly that "there weren’t many Bears fans at school today."

The next day, he went to school wearing this:

Since he has run out of clean Bears shirts, this morning, with great deliberation, he decided to drink his milk like this:

When he is older, he will probably, like his father, ruminate on the botched plays, the missed chances, the failings of the quarterback and the fact that they should have blitzed more. 

But for now, grief is a concrete and almost completely wordless process.
